This is the story of St. Simon Stock, who became a hermit at age 12 and lived in the trunk, or "stock" of a huge tree. He then became a hermit on Mt. Carmel in the Holy Land and finally received from Our Lady the Carmelite scapular and her famous Brown Scapular Promise.
